The film is the story about the beginning of the Indian film industry, set in 1913, where Dadasaheb Phalke decides to make his own silent motion picture with the support of his family.He travels to England to learn about the new medium and upon his return brings together a team of actors and technicians to produce his first film about the story of Raja Harishchandra. The movie becomes a hit; marking the beginning of one of the biggest film industries in the work.

About the Director

Paresh Mokashi is a known name in Marathi cinema and theatre. His cinema directorial debut came with Harishchandrachi Factory.

He started as a backstage person for a theatre group in Pune. Later on he got introduced to Prithvi Theatre, Mumbai for whose festival he wrote critically acclaimed plays. After doing some small roles in TV serials and a few Hindi movies, he started researching on his first script. Staying true to his script, he did not dilute the concept by adding songs or casting big stars. This resulted in him producing the movie himself.

The movie was an official Indian entry to the 82nd edition of Oscars.

About the Guest

Rohini is an Indian actress, lyricist, screenwriter, voice actor and director in the Malayalam and Tamil Industry. A Child prodigy, she started acting at the age of 5.

She has been a recipient of Kalaimamani award for her acting skills and has lent her voice for a lot of A-grade heroines in Tamil Cinema including Jyothika, Aishwarya Rai and Manisha Koirala.

Apart from writing scripts for TV serials, she has a few shows to her credit as a host as well.Known to be active in spreading awareness on AIDS, she has directed short films for MGR medical university and TamilNadu AIDS Control Society.
